The quantities that matter

Consumption is known from the bill: one monthly total for the whole plant. Enough to pay it, not enough to see where the energy goes, and not enough for an audit that has to rest on measurements.

Energy per department

Active and reactive per substation, line and machine, so consumption is attributed to whoever generates it instead of sitting in the site total.

Thermal vectors

Gas, steam, hot and chilled water on the same timeline as electricity: comparisons are then made between like quantities.

Compressed air

In Nm³ and in the kWh it takes to make it, which is the only way to know what a cubic metre really costs.

Power and peaks

Contracted power and the quarter-hourly profile with the peak dated, to see which start-up is pushing you over the threshold.

The parts that actually came out, because without the denominator the kWh cannot say whether a measure worked.

Continuous, traceable history, exportable for the energy audit and for whoever has to verify it.

Above 10 TJ a year the energy audit is mandatory, and from 2027 it can no longer rest on estimates. A measured history is not something you build in a fortnight.
